Hillsborough Player of the Year
Why we picked her:
Bartram set the national record, boys and girls, for 3-pointers made in a four-year career (531). Bartram has been a consistent starter since eighth grade. This season, she averaged 18.2 points per game and drained 155 3-pointers (5.2 per game, 44 percent of her shots). Bartram was the Crusaders’ leading scorer and undisputed leader. The only low point was losing to Carrollwood Day in both the district and region finals. “We didn’t get to go to Lakeland (for the state tournament) but we did go to Arizona for a tournament,” Bartram said. “We played in a lot of good tournaments here in Florida. Our Christmas tournament was a blast, playing teams from Pennsylvania and Tennessee. It was a fun season.”
Season highlight:
She said there were two, and both had to do with breaking national records. “Probably the biggest was breaking the 3-point record. The girls and the boys, but mostly the girls. It was at home. We had a huge crowd. It made it all the more memorable.’’
Did you know?
Bartram comes from a basketball family. Her father, Greg, played college basketball at Penn State. Her younger brother, Blake, is a 6-foot-1 sophomore on Seffner Christian’s varsity team. “The height gene skipped me,” said the 5-foot-9 Bartram.
What’s next?
Bartram will play basketball at Florida and plans to head to Gainesville on May 13. She has not chosen a major but is thinking about sports business or sports management. “I have to work it out with (Seffner Christian) so that I can leave early and then come back and graduate with my class. I’m trying to get everything finished up so I can go on to the next chapter.”
